Wanderlust, 23 Sandy Gallery, Portland Oregon, 2016
This handbook for travelers was inspired by vintage travel guides, wanderlust and a trip to Nicaragua. The text and hand-painted pages of this accordion book tell the story of how Nicaragua’s dramatic landscape and vibrant energy served as both backdrop and instigator to a traveler’s ascent to a manic state. A diary insert includes both personal recollections and facts about Nicaragua’s diverse sights – from a colonial city to an active volcano and a cloud forest.
This book was written, hand-painted and bound by Lisa Onstad. It was letterpress printed from polymer plates on Arturo Book and Canson Mi Teintes papers at Tiger Food Press.
